Stitch! The Movie

So now we've come to the good Stitch movie. I think Stitch! The Movie is actually pretty good. Not perfect, but I still find this movie a lot of fun. While not perfect and not the best Disney sequel, it's definetly an improvement over the last one and it's one you can watch and enjoy in my opinion. What's the story? Lilo is trying to help Stitch fit into Hawaii but nothing's working out. But that's the only thing, Gantu is back and it turns out he's working for someone named Dr. Hamsterviel who's an actual Hamster alien who used to work with Jumba until he betrayed him. And he's after something. What's he after are the other experiments like Stitch and there are 626 others of them. One night, Gantu goes to Lilo's house and kidnaps Jumba. Lilo and Stitch try to stop him but he gets away and now they have to find out a way to get him back with the other experiments. Especially one that can use electricity who they call Sparky. So yeah, not much for it's premise, but I like a lot of things in this. It's not flawless and there are things that don't make sense. So I'll go over those few things. For one, there's this whole thing with Lilo helping Stitch at the start of the movie and that doesn't go anyway after that. Also, kinda like what I said in the last entry, but, remember when I said that Nani and David were kinda bland and didn't get a lot of screen time. And the same goes here. They've never entirely been very interesting together. And, just a very tiny nitpick here that I think doesn't make any sense at all. There's a scene where Jumba is held on the ceiling by something that Gantu put him in and then he hears the phone going off from Pleakley and then somehow, when we cut back to him, he somehow has it in his ear. How'd he get it if he's stuck to the ceiling? Again, very tiny nitpick. Just a question I've always wondered for a while. And so let's get into the good stuff. For one, the animation looks better. It may look similar again, but I think it is better. And Lilo is much more likeable in this than the last time. And, once we do see the other experiment, Sparky, I really like him. He's really cool and so is his design. And I think it's kinda cool how they sorta brought him back as a boss fight in Kingdom Hearts: Birth By Sleep. But I also just like him as a character too. Especially during the ending. Also the side characters are more likeable here in my opinion like the Grand Council Woman, Cobra, Jumba, Pleakley, Sparky and even Experiment 625, A.K.A Ruben as said in the later movie. All of them are much more likeable here and I like the scene where Lilo and Stitch are searching for Sparky too and the ending with him.

And another thing I love about tat is that that started the Lilo & Stitch show that I remember watching a lot when I was younger. I'm not talking about the Stitch anime. I'm talking about the Lilo & Stitch show with the two of them getting the other experiments. Which led to the last Stitch which will be next. Lilo & Stitch 2: Stitch has a Glitch

So now we've come to the Wolverine trilogy of Disney sequels as I like to call this. The reason I say that is because after the first Lilo & Stitch, there started to be all these sequels and spin-off shows. And for the movies, this is what I was talking about when I said the Wolverine trilogy because this is like it where the first movie is really bad, the second sequel is pretty good and the third one is really, really good in my opinion. This is sort of a Stitch series of movies in my opinion. Which is great because I love Stitch. He's still one of my favourite Disney characters as I said in my top 20 other favourite Disney characters list. Here however, he's the only good thing in this movie. I don't like this movie at all. I really don't. Thankfully the following movies got better than this one and so did the shows too in my opinion. What's the story? It opens with Stitch acting strange with his eyes glowing green and he's sorta zipping all over the place unintentionally. Also, there's a hula competition coming up that Lilo wants to enter and win because her mother was in it and she won it too at her age. So the two of them start training for it but nothing working. One night when they're all together, Stitch starts acting strange again and Jumba figures out what's going on. When Stitch was being created, some guards interrupted some kind of upload onto him so this wouldn't happen so now Stitch sorta has this glitch or virus inside him that's making him go nuts.

So now Jumba has to fix him in time. But he doesn't tell the others so now any time this is happening with Stitch it causes bad things to happen to Lilo so she blames him for being bad. And this is sorta my main problem with the movie that I talked about before in my ranking last year. I understand that Lilo is just a kid and she doesn't understand what's going on, but I think every time this happens, she seems way too mean on Stitch. She keeps saying mean things to him despite the fact that none of this is his fault. Again, I know she doesn't get what's happening, but still. And that's only one of the problems here. Next up, why doesn't Jumba just tell them what's going on with Stitch and he's also creating a device that'll help him but he keeps that a secret too. Why? Why does he do that? There're also other problems too. Like how Nani and David seem a little bland in this and they don't get a lot of screen time. Speaking of David, there's this tiny sub-plot that goes on with Pleakley trying to help him win over Nani and that goes nowhere. They try to make it a joke and it's only funny for a second and that's it. It's sorta drags for a little too long and it over stays it's welcome. This movie also has the same problem that a lot of these other sequels have and that's that the stories in them and just the whole feel to them all is just boring. I will say the animation is fine, but nothing really stands out about it. But really, the biggest problem that I have that I still stand by is what Lilo keeps saying to Stitch. Seriously, if I wanted to watch a story where people think Stitch is being bad and they're kinda looking down on him, I'd just watch an episode of Stitch that does that, as in the anime show that I like, because, even though it's sort of the same premise, they did it better and they made it seem not as cold as it was done here and it didn't do it as long as it was done here. The ending is also a bit of a cop-out that doesn't make any sense at all where it looks like Stitch is dead, but then, somehow, he comes back to life when Lilo is hugging him and crying. That is some of the most clichéd dumb stuff you can ever see in a movie or any kinda story like this or really ever. So yeah, I don't like this movie at all. It's so stupid and so does not need to exist at all. Yeah, definitely skip this one. I would not recommend going to see this one. The Hunchback of Notre Dame 2

Oh boy. Last year when I was talking about this movie in my ranking of 22 of the Disney straight to video sequels, this is one of the ones I was dreading. I hate this movie so much. When I first saw it, even with my easily entertained mind, I knew this was not good and I was hating everything about it. Which is strange because even though I do really like the first one, I don't know if I can say I love it, but this is one of the that I hate the most. It's not the number 1 Disney sequel I hate the most, but it is one of the ones I hate the most. And that mainly falls on the story. This is one of the worst Disney stories I've ever seen. What's the story? Esmeralda and Phoebus have a son and him and Quasimodo are friends. Also in Notre Dame there's this bell that's ordinary on the outside, but inside, there are these jewels and stuff like that stuck on it. There's this circus coming to Paris and they want to steal the bell for themselves. So they send a woman named Madellaine to get Quasimodo out of the bell tower so they can steal it, but, of course, the two of them develop a real romance until it's revealed that it was just a lie the whole time. And that's only one of the many dumb things in this. Not only is the script so dumb, terrible and so boring and so lazy feeling, but the characters don't feel as compelling as they did the last one. They were really complex and some were even kinda relatable in the original. Here though, not at all. Some of them even make some kinda dumb decisions at times. Also, the villain in this is horrible. This is a stupid villain. His name is Sarousch and not only does he have no depth to him, but he's also just an extremely boring villain too. Let's also talk about the animation... it's bad in my opinion. This animation is so bad in my opinion. Not only does it not look anything like the original, but it's also just not very nice to look at. Seriously, if I wanted to watch a straight to video Disney sequel with really good animation, I'd watch the Lion King 2 or Bambi 2 or the Jungle Book 2. This one's animation is just bad in my opinion. The music is fine I guess, but the songs are horrible too. The lyrics and tunes in them are so dumb and forgettable. I will say that the actual acting from the actors is pretty good, but what they're saying and what they're being given is dumb too and at times it can seem a little unnatural. But the main problem I have with the movie is that it's just really boring and forgettable. Especially since you know exactly what's going to happen, when it's going to happen and know what people are going to say and when they're going to say it. The film's also really horribly directed and paced, it seems kinda slow at points, and a lot of the scenes with Quasimodo and Madellaine are so bland and so tired. I don't even know what else to say, it's the same stupid, boring story you've heard all the time and there's nothing new to it here. Obviously, I'm saying skip this one. The Jungle Book 2

So, remember when I said in my Little Mermaid 2 review, I said how that movie was sort of a guilty pleasure movie for me? Well, the biggest one to me is this one, the Jungle Book 2. I said before how I remember renting this movie from a nearby video store so many times when I was really younger. And, yeah, for some reason or another, despite the fact that I know this isn't very good, I kinda think it is still a little good. I think it's because I liked it so much when I was younger. But, before I get into that, let's talk about the story. What's the story? It opens up with Mowgli telling the story of his time in the jungle to his friends in the village. But he's also missing the jungle and kinda wants to go back to it. But, it turns out Shere Khan is back and is looking for him to kill him for revenge. So one night, Baloo, who's also missing Mowgli, goes to the village and gets out of it and brings him back to the jungle. But then, Shanti, a friend of Mowgli's, sees him being taken and thinks Baloo is going to hurt him so she goes after them to help him along with Ranjan, a small boy who decided to follow her. So, yeah, I will that the biggest problem that everyone has with this movie, that I guess is a problem too is that the story is almost a 100% rehash of the first one because Mowgli wants to go into the jungle, Baloo wants him to stay in the jungle too, Shere Khan is still out to get him and it feels like they're just trying to show us these characters again like the elephants, vultures, monkeys and stuff like that. Though thankfully, this movie is short so it isn't so long that it takes a long time to get through all these scenes and I will say that the one scene I do sorta want to skip all the time I watch it is the scene at King Louie's palace. He's gone apparently so now Baloo has it. But every time I watch the movie, that's the number one scene I want to skip. As well as a couple of the musical sequences. But other than that, again, for some reason, I really enjoy this movie. For one, the cast is fantastic here. I mean, they got Haley Joel Osment, the voice of Sora, to do the voice of Mowgli, so of course I'm gonna love that performance. But the rest is great too Mae Whitman, John Goodman, Tony Jay, Connor Funk, Jim Cummings, John Rhys-Davies, Bob Joles, I think they're all fantastic. The animation is also fantastic. This is maybe the only straight to video Disney sequel where I think the animation is better than the original. And I always have a good and fun time whenever I watch. The end climax is also cool too with Mowgli, Shanti and Baloo against Shere Khan in the Temple. Though, I will say the opening is kinda generic and not really anything special and was a little slow with trying to get everyone set up in the village. But, again, with that, I still like this movie and I think it is worth a viewing if you want and if you're curious. Though, if I didn't grow up with this, I probably wouldn't like it as much as I do and so I think a lot of it is based on that. That's really all I think of to say for it, not a whole lot. Return to Neverland

Next up on the straight to video Disney sequels is the sequel to Peter Pan, Return to Neverland. I remember first seeing this movie years ago with my class in school and kinda finding fine I suppose. I mean, I was really young so I got some entertainment out of it. But, yeah, when looking at it again years later as a teenager, it definetly blows. I did not care for this movie at all when I rewatched it. I remember just kinda looking at my phone for a few of the scenes in this because I thought a lot of it was kinda boring. I didn't hate it like a lot of others, but it definetly not something I'd like to come back and watch again. What's the story? It's years later from the first movie and Wendy is now an adult with her kids, one of them being a girl named Jane who's the main character, and it's the middle of World War 2. But one night, Captain Hook comes and kidnaps her mistaking her for Wendy. They go back to Neverland but then Peter saves her. And Jane tells him and the Lost Boys that she doesn't imagine anything and doesn't believe in fairies, especially with her being in World War 2 and all that, so Peter and the boys try to help her have fun and try to be a kid since she hasn't been able to. And with her not believing in fairies, Tinkerbell begins to lose her powers. Okay, I'll admit, some of that actually is pretty clever and original, but the execution of a lot of them are poor. Not all of them, but most of them. I think really the best I can say for this is the same with Ariel's Beginning with the animation being the best part but that doesn't save the movie itself. And there's a stupid liar revealed part which I always hate and, they don't focus on it for too long, but it's still there and it's still irritating when they do it. There also isn't a ton of humour in it either, which is a big let down because there's a lot of comedy in the original. There are also some things in this that don't make sense like how there's this big octopus now after Hook instead of the crocodile. I mean it is kinda the same, but it doesn't make sense why they would replace it. Granted the ending with it is pretty cool, but, again, why would they change it. But the main problem I have with this is that it's just really boring and it really doesn't need to exist. Like a lot of these Disney sequel. Sure, I like and even love some of these straight to video ones, but the majority of them are just a waste of time, and this is no exception. A lot of this movie is Peter and the boys trying to help Jane have fun and to imagine things and to believe in fairies to help Tinkerbell. Although, I will say that the ending is actually pretty nice where Peter and Wendy talk at her house. That was actually a nice scene and it didn't seem forced. Captain Hook as well doesn't have a lot to him here. I loved him in the first movie but he's so wasted here. They coulda done a lot of comedy with him considering he's the funniest Disney villain ever in my opinion in the original movie, but they don't try that much with him. Overall, I don't really have a lot to say about this, it's just kinda a bland mess. Again, if you're curious to see it for yourself, it's not that bad. The Little Mermaid: Ariel's Beginning

Next for my straight to video Disney sequels is the third Little Mermaid movie which is actually a prequel, Ariel's Beginning. I'm sorta split in thoughts about this. I mean there are a lot of dumb things in it, but there's actually also a few good things in it too. Not as much as bad, but still, some pretty good things here. But first, what's the story? It opens up with Ariel as a girl with her sisters, dad Triton and mother named Athena. But then Athena is killed by a ship crashing into her and Triton is so angry that he decides to ban all sorts of music in Atlantica. But, of course, everyone's sad and so Ariel tires to find a way for music to be played again. Again, when I spoke about the last Little Mermaid movie, wow. Just wow. The fact they actually did this kinda story. I tell ya, there is not one single surprise in this entire movie. Not one. As soon as you start watching it for the first time, you know absolutely everything that's going to happen. Triton bans music but by the end, he realises he was wrong and so he lets them do it eventually. That entire plot is not original at all. As I said, there's not any kinda surprise in this in the least. Most of the movie is just watching them sing and dance but they're not very entertaining to watch. But, for me, the biggest disappointment is the villain named Marina Del Rey, who's a servant in the palace and looks after Ariel and her sisters. The biggest problem that I've had with this for a long time is the same that everyone else has had too, why wasn't this character Ursula? I mean, she has the same backstory as her with them both working in the palace wanting to be the ruler and doing a lot of terrible things. But it's not. Seriously, they coulda had a scene where King Triton accidently zaps her and she transforms into Ursula. She even has eels for servants, just like Ursula. But it's not her. It's a completely different character. I would have loved to have seen her become Ursula. But she's not. And her being called Ursula could be what Triton decided to call her from that moment on or that's what she decided to call herself. But no. What a let down. But, are there any good things in this? Well, the animation is really fantastic here. Every scene with this animation is so beautiful. Especially on all the characters. The sisters as well are in the movie a lot and they have quite a bit of personalities.

And at times there will be a small funny moment. But other than that, this movie is pretty bad. It's beyond predictable, it's not creative in the least and you can point out everything. So yeah, I don't know if I'd say go watch it, but if you're curious and you want to, it's not harmful. Do if you want, there' just nothing in it that's gonna surprise ya. Wonder Woman

And so everyone, we've finally arrived at one of the most anticipated movies of the whole year and one of my most anticipated too, Wonder Woman. I was really excited going into this movie. Not just because I love comic book movies, but because I had heard a lot of great things about it before I went in. People were saying they really liked it and some were saying they loved it which means it woulda been the first DC.E.U movie that would actually be good and liked by a lot of people. And so, what did I think of it? I really liked it too. I don't think I loved it, but I had an absolute blast with this movie. This is finally the first DC.E.U movie I like that not a lot of other people do like. And, yes, I'm going to save the spoilers for later but first I'll go over the story without any spoilers. What's the story? It opens up with Diana getting her picture back from Bruce and we get a flashback with her origin back in the time of World War 1. When she was a girl and on Themyscira, she wanted to be a fighter but her mother wouldn't allow it but she would be training with her aunt anyway. As she grows up she gets stronger and her aunt manages to convince her mother to let her train. One day when she's training she uses the power of her bracelets and accidently hurts her. Feeling a little guilty, she runs off but then sees a plane crashing into the water and she helps the person inside it. A man named Steve Trevor played by Chris Pine. But then a bunch of Germans attack. They fight them but then her aunt is killed and they begin to question Steve and he explains that he stole a notebook belonging to a villain named Dr. Poison who's working on a gas to kill everyone. Diana believes that the one behind this is Ares, the God of War. She and Steve talk later and she then steals a shield, a lasso, a God Killing sword and her armoured suit. As she's about to leave with Steve, her mother talks to her and also gives her a tiara. And so then, the two of them leave to head off to London. And that's where I'm going to stop. I think that's a good spot where to stop without spoiling anything. Firstly, this cast is outstanding. I already really liked Gal Gadot as Wonder Woman in Batman V Superman and she's even better here. She's a lot of fun to watch and she is very naïve, but that really fits this character going to the outside world. She's also really full of joy and curiosity and that was fun to watch in the beginning of the movie. Chris Pine is awesome and pretty funny as Steve. I really cared about that character and he was just so much fun to watch. (By the way, am I the only one who noticed how weird or convenient that his name is Chris and he got the role of a character named Steve in movie set in a World War like Chris Evan with Captain America/Steve Rogers? And especially since this movie and Captain America: The First Avenger are kinda similar.) Anyway, the chemistry between Diana and Steve is there and I actually believed it. The entire rest of the cast is great as well. Robin Wright, Connie Nelson, Danny Huston, Lucy Davis, David Thewlis. All of them are great. I also really liked and really enjoyed the Steve's war friends. They were a lot of fun and I really liked them. The cinematography and direction from Patty Jenkins is great too. It's a really well told story and really well paced. Also, unlike some of the other DC.E.U movies, this movie is really well edited too. The action is also great too. Some the action in some of the other movies felt a little weird at times, especially in Suicide Squad. But here, it's really well choreographed and well shot. And so is the stunt work in a lot of these sequences. This movie is also really well balanced in comedy and drama. There were quite a lot of funny moments an the dramatic moments hit me hard. Not as hard as say, Logan or something, but still. There were still some pretty good dramatic moments. I also actually liked the finale. I thought it was awesome and the twists in it were just as awesome too. I would say my only problem with it is the villains. There's three of them and they have the same problem as the M.C.U villain. They're not memorable, they're not developed and they're beyond clichéd. They were fine I guess and I enjoyed watching them most of the time, especially the main villain and the performances were great, but still, they were pretty generic. But they weren't terrible. Overall, I really like Wonder Woman. And not like the other DC.E.U movies where they're a mess but I enjoy them, I mean this is a really good movie and I enjoy it for real as a really good movie. It's the best DC movie I seen in a long time, it's my favourite superheroine movie... which isn't saying a whole lot considering...

But still, it might be my second or third favourite movie I've seen this year, it has me a lot more excited for Justice League and I'm so glad that this is the movie that's finally gotten this DC.E.U movie going and everyone enjoys. And, just in case you're wondering, no, there is no credit scene. In case you were thinking about staying to wait for one, this isn't any. I don't think that's a spoiler, but, just in case. Overall, I'm so happy to say definetly go see this movie because it is really, really good. Spoilers:
Okay, firstly, Steve's death. That was pretty sad, but something tells me that I saw it coming. But when he sacrificed himself inside the plane with those gas bombs, that really hit me. And the scene where we see what he said to Diana before that where he admits he loves her and he gives her the watch, that didn't make me cry in the least, but it was still sad and unlike some other DC movies where it feels like they're trying to force the dramatic moments onto you, this one really worked. But the biggest twist was where we see that Sir Patrick was actually Ares the whole time after Diana kills Ludendorff was awesome. Especially when he makes that armour he has in the comics. And that final fight with him and Diana was incredible. It did get kinda C.G.I heavy, but I still really liked it. I also loved the fight in the town where they save a bunch of people and Diana destroys the top of the building that the guy is in. That was so cool to see. Though, back to that villain thing, Danny Huston's character, Ludendorff, when you realise what he really is, you end up kinda caring less about him because he wasn't the main villain and the scenes with him before that were pretty weird and a little bland. The performance was good, but the character was kinda bland. But, I still had a great time with this movie and I hope all of you liked it too. The Little Mermaid 2: Return to the Sea

So, I'm not gonna lie, one of the more guilty pleasure Disney sequels out there for me is this one. That's not to say I think it's good, I know it's not, but for some reason I kinda find it enjoyable. I remember first seeing this a couple of years ago and while I didn't think it was good, I was getting a little entertainment out of it. But, again, that's not to say it's good, it's not, but still. And with a story like this, I think I might know why. Anyway, what's the story? Ariel and Eric have given birth to a girl named Melody. On a day when she's still a baby, she's about to be introduced to her grandfather Triton, but then Morgana, Ursula's sister, kidnaps her and threatens to kill her unless Triton gives her the Trident. They manage to beat her but they decide to keep Melody away from the sea so she'll be safe and to never tell her anything about Atlantica while also building a wall to keep them out. Years later when she's a teenager, she keeps going under the wall and into the sea because she loves it so much. Sound familiar? Ahem...

Anyway, when Sabastian ruins a night that was supposed to be special, she thinks she's to blame, which doesn't make any sense, and she even finds the old locket she had when she was a baby and finds out that Atlantica is real and decides to run away to find it. She comes across a talking penguin and walrus and even Morgana who turns her into a mermaid but says she doesn't have enough power to keep her that way. She says that the only thing that does is Triton's Trident who she says stole it from her and says he's the real evil one. So Melody steals it, gives it to Morgana, betrays her mother and now Morgana is about to take over the world. Wow. Even with movies with this kinda premise, at least most of them knew how it do it right. Like with Moana for example, she loved the water and did want to go out on it too, but at least the character was written better and everything surrounding her and her world made sense and it was understandable and she never made any dumb mistakes. Here, it almost seems like the writers didn't entirely know what to do with a lot of this material. Which is so strange because this story should be so easy to make interesting and enjoyable. But instead we get a sloppy script with dumb moves being made and even the characters seem a little selfish and something like that. Like how Ariel and Eric have been lying to Melody all this time. I understand it was to protect her and they wanted to keep her away from Morgana. But still. And even more scenes like that. Even the songs aren't that good either because I don't remember one of them. The only one I like and think is kinda good is the first one.

But with that bad stuff, is that anything good in it? Well, some of the characters are likeable like Melody at times and Morgana's a pretty cool villain. And I think the animation is pretty good. Really good animation here. Even the voice acting is really good too. Some of the new and old voice cast is really spot on. And, like I said, for some reason, I kinda find this entertaining a little bit despite this really dumb script. So yeah, kinda hard to say whether or not I'd recommend it. I probably wouldn't, but if you're not doing anything and kinda bored, I guess you can watch it. It's not the worst way to spend an hour and fifteen minutes. That's really the best I can say for it. Aladdin and the King of Thieves

So after the financial success of the Return of Jafar, Disney began to do a lot more including the next Aladdin sequel, The King of Thieves. This is a sequel that's a whole lot better than the last one. Does that mean it's really great? No, not really, I don't entirely like this movie, but it's not that bad. What's the story? Aladdin and Jasmine are finally getting married but Aladdin is sad because he wants to invite his dad to the wedding but he never knew his dad. But suddenly he hears about the king of the 40 thieves, and wouldn't you know it, his father is the king. He's trying to get a sceptre from the palace that can lead him to the Hand of Mitus which is the greatest treasure of all time. So Aladdin and his dad are trying to find it and are trying to connect with each other but are having trouble doing that. And the rest is them try to do that, Aladdin having to put off the wedding and trying to survive from the villain trying to kill them and take the Hand for himself. So, again, this story should be easy to make entertaining and enjoyable, and while it is an improvement over the last movie, there are still a lot of problems. The biggest problem is my opinion is that the characters aren't well fleshed out. Especially the father. What he says and what he does don't make a whole lot of sense. At the start he says that the reason he was never with Aladdin was because he wasn't able to provide from him and his mother so he left to try to provide for them. But then after joining the 40 thieves, he just decided to abandon that so he could find the Hand. And, while I kinda understand that motivation, what doesn't make sense is what he says and does afterwards and how he didn't want to attend Aladdin's wedding. I guess the only way that coulda been fixed is if it was longer so they could explore these more. Given the budget, I can't blame them, but still. I think they coulda used a little less of the Genie maybe then more on them. Speaking of the Genie, Robin Williams is back and that's definitely a good thing considering, well, it's Robin Williams, so of course it's going to be funny. But maybe they spend a little too much on him and they could used that time for Aladdin and his dad. I don't even remember the songs. Which is so weird because the first Aladdin is one of the best Disney musicals ever, but I don't remember one song from this. The characters also don't feel like they have a lot of screen time like Jasmine, the Sultan and Abu. It's mostly on Aladdin, his dad and the Genie. But, with those problems, what're the good things in this? Well, the animation, while still not anything that great, is still pretty good and so is the lighting, colours, angles and movement of the characters. And when they actually do do this treasure hunt like an adventure, it's kinda fun and so is the climax at the end with the villain. And, while it doesn't always work, some of the human emotions are felt and you do get behind some of the characters even if not all of them make a lot of sense. Even Iago and Aladdin's dad get along well and they're fun to watch. And, as I just said, when the adventure get going, it's a lot of fun and you do want to keep going. Even the ending is kinda nice. Really, the best I think I can say for this is that I'm glad I saw, but I don't think I'd see it again. I would say check it out if you want, I just didn't find a lot in it. The Return of Jafar

So, remember in my last entry I said that I was originally going to do something different for my 600th entry? Well, this is it. I've decided to do full and real reviews of the straight to video Disney sequels which have mainly been considered bad. Not all of them. Some of them are good and some are actually great . Last year I did a ranking of them, but I actually missed a few and I wanted to do actual reviews for all of them starting with the first one ever made, the Return of Jafar. Pretty much exactly what I said in the ranking last year about this movie I still stand by. But before I get to that, what's the story? It opens up with Aladdin now living at the palace with Jasmine. Also Genie is gone now Iago has escaped from Jafar's lamp and finds them saying he wants to be good, but he really just wants to benefit himself. Meanwhile, a thief finds Jafar's lamp and sets him free wanting a wish but Jafar is just trying to get revenge on Aladdin and makes it looks like he killed the sultan so that he'll be executed. Really, that doesn't sound that bad. But really, it's the execution of the story that really makes this movie a mess and the pacing as well. I remember when I was younger and I heard about this movie and I was excited because the title sounded cool and it was Jafar returning as the villain again. But then I saw it a couple of years ago and I was really disappointed. Which, coming from me is really saying something. For starters, and maybe my biggest problem with the movie is that Jafar is barely in this movie, Aladdin doesn't feel like he's the focus and the movie is too focused on Iago. Also, Robin Williams isn't the Genie in this movie. Dan Castellaneta who voices Homer Simpson does the voice this time. And while he does do a good job, the best part about the Genie is the improvisation that Robin Williams does for him and no one's as good as him on that. The Genie's not even that funny either. Also, the songs aren't that good either and Iago has too many of them. I will say that the climax is fine but nothing really special is in it. The animation also doesn't look very good. I know it's probably because of the budget or the time they had, but this isn't very good animation. I will say though, Jason Alexander as the thief is actually pretty funny every once in a while, but even then, he doesn't make the movie any better either. But really think about it, do you really think this movie coulda been something good? I do because it's called the Return of Jafar. That should be so easy to make a good movie, but no, they decided to go this route and this route is bad. Like kinda really bad. I was really disappointed with it and I would have liked a much better movie than this. And this movie's financial success is actually what led to all the others being made. Which is good for some of these, but not a lot. It's just a really underwhelming and bad movie and I would not recommend that you watch it. And so everyone, that's my review of the Return of Jafar.
