Dumbo
Because of the flop at the box office with Fantasia, Disney had to make something cheap and fast. And the movie was Dumbo. This is one of the movies that saved the studio back in the day. The other one was Cinderella when Walt had to make that movie with everything he had. And it succeeded. And so did this one. Even if it's not very long. It's only like maybe an hour and nine minutes. What's the story? It's about a new born elephant, named Dumbo, who's born with big ears and everyone make fun of him. But one day an actual boy goes too far in making fun of him and so the mother elephant begins to attack him which causes her to be locked away and now Dumbo is left only one friend, a circus mouse named Timothy who tries to help cheer him up. And the rest of the movie is just things going wrong and a ton of misunderstandings happening. Yeah, not really anything that spectacular. But to be fair, I don't think it was really supposed to. I think it was made to keep people entertained and be successful. And that's what this movie was. Something I always find weird is how the marketing and adds and everything having to do with this movie shows Dumbo flying. But he doesn't fly until the last ten minutes. So it's kinda misleading. But the rest of the movie is fine. It isn't great but it's still entertaining. And that whole Pink Elephant scene, that scene is both weird and awesome at the same time. Right in the middle of this already dramatic movie, this really bizarre thing happens. Dumbo accidently gets drunk and starts seeing a whole bunch of weird elephant things all around him. Watch.
A lot of people, including myself, always feel like that was just something to be used so the animators could have fun and show-off a little. And, yeah, I guess I can see that. But even still, it's just a crazy yet somehow, really entertaining scene. There's also a weird controversy over the crows in here but I like them. They're cool and they're the ones who made Dumbo fly. I personally like them and I like the song they have. Dumbo and Timothy are also fine. They're enjoyable and likeable. Especially seeing how Dumbo is just this small young elephant who's just kinda observing everything that's happening who doesn't really say anything. Overall, Dumbo is a decent movie. It isn't anything amazing but if your looking for something to kill time on a boring day, this is something that you could watch. Check it out and see what you think.
