Oliver & Company

It's almost impossible to talk about this movie without talking about the backstory of it first. So in 1988 when this was released, it was released the exact same day as another animated movie. The Land Before Time. Both movies did get good reviews but at the end of day, the Land Before Time was the one that won. This was also just a massive let down for a lot of people when it was released. You can definitely tell that this was just a marketing movie. I only first saw this movie early this year. What's the story? It's about a kitten named Oliver in New York city who's an orphan who's on the streets. One day he meets an older dog named Dodger who promises to be partners with him if he gets him some food and he'll share with him. And he managed to get him some sausages. But then Dodger leaves without sharing. Oliver follows him back to where he lives which is a old abandoned place in a dark and swamp like area with other dogs and they're owned by a man. After that, Oliver gets taken up by another family who's richer and nicer. There's also a villain in this named Sykes who wants the man who owned those other dogs to pay him back. Eventually a whole bunch of stuff happens where they all get involved and Jenny, the girl who's part of the nice and rich family gets kidnapped by Sykes and the rest is trying to get her back. So, while this movie does have a lot of potential to be great, there's really only a few things that stick out. Some of the characters are entertaining and enjoyable, one of the songs here is actually really good. Why Should I Worry. Listen.
And actually, Sykes's death in this is really brutal. I didn't even think Disney could go this brutal with it's deaths. But watch.
That is awesome. Aside from that, it's not all that memorable. I don't really remember a lot of the characters or the other songs and it has a lot of things that isn't Disney's best stuff. It isn't awful, it just isn't anything spectacular. But still, if your interested, I guess I would recommend it. So just see it if you want. Also, this was the last movie to be released before the first Disney Renaissance started wit the Little Mermaid in 1989, which is pretty cool.

The Rescuers

This was the very first Disney Classic Walt himself had absolutely no involvement with what so ever. And the reason for that is because of his death after the Jungle Book in 1967. And it definitely shows here. You can easily tell that something is different here. Not just by the animation, but also just the overall style of it. You can definitely see that this isn't something from Walt. And it's kinda like 101 Dalmatians in the sense that it is really spectacular. Not a very interesting premise, not much stellar animation, just an overall meh feeling. What's the story? It's about a little girl named Penny who's being held by this crazy woman named Madam Medusa who wants her to go inside a mine and get a diamond from it. And apparently this group of mice call the Rescued Aid Society which is full of mice who go in and help people in terrible situations like this, which is kinda weird, but whatever. So two mice named Bernard and Ms. Bianca are told to go in and save her. And bringing them there is a bird named Orville. And that's really the basic story. I guess for a movie from the 70's, it's decent. But this isn't really good in my opinion. Well, O.K. Let's go over the good things first. Some of characters are kinda fun like Madam Medusa is pretty over the top as the villain but she's still kinda entertaining. Her sidekick is also pretty blithering which is pretty funny at time and overall, the movie is survivable. Aside from that, it's just pretty bland. The main location in the movie is just this boring swamp and these lead characters are so bland and so tiring. Nothing really happens in the movie. Usually it's just walking and talking. And really weird and boring talking as well. I'm not saying this movie is awful, but I don't think it's very good. And Penny is so clichéd. The typical precious sort of character and there isn't really anything to her. Sure the climax is kinda fun, but there isn't much to that either. Overall, this movie isn't terrible, there area couple of things in it that are a little passable, I'm just saying that are other Disney movies that are better, if you know what I mean. Check it out if you want, just don't expect a whole lot.

The Sword in the Stone

So before I say anything about the movie, I just want to bring something up. Today I've gotten a new laptop and my dad and I put all my old stuff onto it so expect there to be a bit more posts  to come up because with my old one I was having some trouble with my blog on my old one so now that I've gotten a new one, it's going to be a lot more easy to write. So let's continue the Disney Classics I never reviewed before with no. 18, the Sword in the Stone. And, in case I didn't bring it up before, the reason I didn't do these before is because I never saw these at the time I did those other reviews two years ago. The other Disney Classic reviews I'm going to do after this are going to be the Rescuers, Oliver & Company, the Rescuers: Down Under, Fantasia 2000, Home on the Range, Chicken Little, the Wild and Meet the Robinsons. So let's continue with the Sword in the Stone. This is one of the very few Disney Classics that actually gives you education. What do I mean by that? Well, let's look at the story first. What's the story? It's about a boy named Arthur who's a servant to a king and his two stupid sons who are mean to him. But one day Arthur meets an old wizard named Merlin. And the majority of the movie is Merlin teaching Arthur a whole bunch of things of being a good king as well as teaching him other things. And that's really the majority of the movie. So I guess the main positive is that these are very memorable characters. Especially Arthur, Merlin and Merlin's owl. Especially given how Merlin is the only character in this who actually was in Kingdom Hearts. And I liked him a lot there too. And I like how they dive into all of this and the dive into the education of learning to be a good king. And the whole transformation scenes are a lot of fun. But that's kinda the problem. That's exactly what this movie is. It's education and learning things. It's kinda like an actual teacher talking to you but here it's Merlin and the owl. I guess that is kinda cool but that isn't exactly what you want in a Disney movie. I guess it's kinda cool but nothing really exciting until the end when we get the villain of the movie, Mad Madam Mim. And she's a lot of fun too. And that whole wizard's duel scene. That is awesome. Watch this.
It's easily the best part of the movie. But besides that, not much is really spectacular except these characters and the very, very end with Arthur finally getting some respect. It's isn't awful by any means and you can still watch it if you ever have the time.

Bambi

Now let's talk about Walt Disney's personal favourite movie he had made, Bambi. And I can't talk about this movie without showing this scene.
There's no point in not discussing this scene. I mean, it most likely traumatised a lot of people back when this was really in 1942. But is that the only thing to like in this movie? No, absolutely not. This movie has a ton of things to like. Not only is the art, animation and painting in this movie absolutely incredible, but it's also just a really interesting, likeable and kinda character driven movie. There's not even a real plot in this movie. The story is basically the life of one deer. And for some reason, that's really plenty. This is enough. And it's really interesting to see how Bambi goes through life and learns all these lessons. Especially with his dad. His father is almost never around whenever he's a kid and when he is, Bambi's kind of afraid of him. And that whole scene with his mother's death is so powerful because before that we could see that there was such a strong and genuine connection between her and Bambi. And it's nice to see all these characters. Bambi, Thumper, Flower, his dad, Faline. They're all great to follow. Although, I kinda prefer them in the sequel. Yeah, recently when I rewatched the sequel, and I liked it a lot more. I even changed some things in my ranking of 22 Disney sequels. I put Bambi 2 closer to number 1. I didn't put it as number 1 but I put it closer. I enjoyed it a lot, lot more after rewatching it again last weekend. I also really prefer Bambi himself a lot more in the sequel because he talks more and he does more stuff that I like and I like the voice actor they got for him there. In fact, I even recently redid my painting of Bambi in my Disney Classics character paintings because the one I did before looked absolutely nothing like him. Here it is if you want to see it.

But here he's still likeable. Just a wide-eyed, curious and innocent like kid. And it's also a really intense movie. I'm not just talking about the whole thing with his mother, but also what happens when Bambi becomes an adult. I also like the ending where we actually see Bambi become a father and see him actually be the way the way he is at the end. It's really satisfying. There's also a lot of violence than you'd think. In fact, the villain in this is Man, and you never see him but you can definitely feel the threat he causes to everyone. It's enough to be intimidated. And all on all, this is another really great Disney, I think I might actually like the sequel better but this is still a really impressive movie. And, while it isn't one of my favourites and I think there are other Disney Classics better, this is still a great way to pass time. Definitely check it out.

Dumbo

Because of the flop at the box office with Fantasia, Disney had to make something cheap and fast. And the movie was Dumbo. This is one of the movies that saved the studio back in the day. The other one was Cinderella when Walt had to make that movie with everything he had. And it succeeded. And so did this one. Even if it's not very long. It's only like maybe an hour and nine minutes. What's the story? It's about a new born elephant, named Dumbo, who's born with big ears and everyone make fun of him. But one day an actual boy goes too far in making fun of him and so the mother elephant begins to attack him which causes her to be locked away and now Dumbo is left only one friend, a circus mouse named Timothy who tries to help cheer him up. And the rest of the movie is just things going wrong and a ton of misunderstandings happening. Yeah, not really anything that spectacular. But to be fair, I don't think it was really supposed to. I think it was made to keep people entertained and be successful. And that's what this movie was. Something I always find weird is how the marketing and adds and everything having to do with this movie shows Dumbo flying. But he doesn't fly until the last ten minutes. So it's kinda misleading. But the rest of the movie is fine. It isn't great but it's still entertaining. And that whole Pink Elephant scene, that scene is both weird and awesome at the same time. Right in the middle of this already dramatic movie, this really bizarre thing happens. Dumbo accidently gets drunk and starts seeing a whole bunch of weird elephant things all around him. Watch.
A lot of people, including myself, always feel like that was just something to be used so the animators could have fun and show-off a little. And, yeah, I guess I can see that. But even still, it's just a crazy yet somehow, really entertaining scene. There's also a weird controversy over the crows in here but I like them. They're cool and they're the ones who made Dumbo fly. I personally like them and I like the song they have. Dumbo and Timothy are also fine. They're enjoyable and likeable. Especially seeing how Dumbo is just this small young elephant who's just kinda observing everything that's happening who doesn't really say anything. Overall, Dumbo is a decent movie. It isn't anything amazing but if your looking for something to kill time on a boring day, this is something that you could watch. Check it out and see what you think.

Fantasia

So two years ago I did reviews for almost every Disney Classic. But I didn't review every one. And the reason for that is because I didn't see them before. But now, that's exactly what I'm going to do. I'm going to review every Disney Classic I didn't review back then. Note, I'm not going to do the 6 package movies again. I know I said that same thing when I did my paintings of Disney Classics characters but I might do those movies another time. But for now, I'm going to be reviewing the full-length Disney Classics I missed then now. So, lets start with Classic no. 3, Fantasia. This movie was made back in 1940. This movie doesn't even have a plot. It's just a series of events that happen and we hear music through out the whole thing with not one animated character saying a word. And it really works. It's practically phenomenal. This is a lot of people's favourite Disney movie. Especially given the fact that it's kind of an experience. The only person we hear talking is the composer as he's presenting these segments. And the segments themselves are really cool. There's one that explains the Dinosaurs as they live and then die. There's one with explaining nature. The most famous is the Sorcerer's Apprentice with Mickey Mouse and Yen Sid. In fact, this is the thing Mickey was in that gave him his real design we all know today. Then there's one with animals dancing. And the ending probably has the best. Night on Bald Mountain with Chernabog. This scene is incredible. It has my favourite music in the whole movie and the animation is absolutely incredible. Watch.
Chernabog himself is also really cool. He doesn't even say anything and yet he leaves you with incredible influence. Then there's the last one with the Ave Maria which is what beats Chernabog and the two segments coincide with each other tremendously. This was also Walt Disney's way of bringing back the popularity of Mickey. In fact, that's exactly what this entire movie was supposed to be originally. It was originally supposed to be the Sorcerer's Apprentice as a short film. Back then, Mickey was kinda losing popularity and he was Walt's favourite creation and he didn't want people to forget about him so he decided to do the Sorcerer's Apprentice but as the budget for it got bigger and bigger they decided to make an entire movie. And the end result is some amazing animation and amazing music. Overall, I like this movie a lot. I don't exactly love it, but it is definitely a great movie. Especially for the time. Though unfortunately, this movie didn't do good at the box office. It wasn't a bomb, it did fine. But the film itself cost a fortune to make and given the fact that it wasn't a huge financial success didn't exactly help. But this is still a movie to check out if you ever have the time.

My favourite moments from all the Marvel Cinematic Universe movies

So in this entry, I'll be explaining my favourite moments from every M.C.U movie. Note, these are moments I thought were absolutely awesome and I love them. Also this is a bit of a small entry because I'm really trying to update on my blog because I haven't written a whole lot for a few days and I'm sorry but it's only because I've been really busy with my own life recently so I hope you can understand and also if you not you're twelve years old or older, don't read this because there's going to be some bad words in this. And please tell me what your favourite moments are when you're done reading. So let's begin.
Iron Man = The mark 3 in action: This is right when Tony learned about the terrorists attacking innocent refugees so he goes to help them in that awesome mark 3 armour. And it's the first time we saw the mark 3. A.K.A. The first red and gold one. And it was great to see it in action for the first time.

The Incredible Hulk = Hulk vs. Abomination: I mean, the whole fight with Hulk and Abomination is easily the best part of this whole movie and it was great to finally get the fight that the whole movie was building up to. And it was a lot of fun to just see these two strong monsters just punching each other around like this.

Iron Man 2 = The assemblage of the suitcase armour: Right when you think the Iron Man suits couldn't get any cooler, they show us this really awesome scene where Tony is being attacked and he pulls out the suitcase and the entire armour assembles all around him. It's practically jaw dropping.

Thor = The destruction of the Bifrost: This is when Thor and Loki are having their final fight and Thor begins to destroy the Bifrost to save the Frost Giants. Just all that and more is great to see visually.

Captain America: The First Avenger = The death of Red Skull: Now this is kinda debatable because Red Skull didn't technically die when this happened. He was just sent into space, but even still, this is still an awesome scene. Just seeing Red Skull get teleported by the Tesseract and then we're almost supposed to think he's dead. But it's still cool and this leaves the door open for him to show up in a later M.C.U movie.

The Avengers = The Circle Shot: This is the part in the final fight when every hero is in New York about to have the final fight with the Chitauri and we get the great circle shot with every hero in it. It's as epic as you can possibly think of.

Iron Man 3 = Iron Man vs. the man on the plane: Just as Tony sends his mark 42 to the plane to help the people on board. And as he's fighting one of Killian's men, he uses his arc reactor to shoot him through the chest which is already but then he says "Walk away from that you son of a bitch." If you don't say that's awesome, I don't know what you would see as awesome.

Thor: The Dark World = Loki as Captain America: This is definitely the funniest part in the movie. As Thor is breaking Loki out, they have fun with it by having Loki use his powers to turn himself into Steve. I remember seeing that in cinemas and laughing really hard.

Captain America: The Winter Solider = The Winter Soldier grabbing and punching Cap's shield: I decided to put these two scenes together because they're so cool. We get introduced to the Winter Soldier and Cap chases him and throws his shield but he just simply grabs it.

And then on the highway fight, Steve runs at him and Bucky just punches it. It's awesome.

Guardians of the Galaxy = The death of Ronan: When the Guardians and Ronan are having their final fight on Xandar and Star-Lord/Peter grabs the Infinity Stone as well as the other Guardian members. They begin to disintegrate but then they stop and Peter just says "You said it yourself bitch. We're the Guardians of the Galaxy." And then there's that awesome scene where they kill him.

Avengers Age of Ultron = The punch from Hulk and Hulkbuster: During this already awesome fight scene between Hulkbuster and Hulk, we get the best shot in the whole fight when Hulk is running at Tony as Tony is assembling a new arm and then when it finishes, they give a mighty punch at their own fists and send out a wave that destroys a lot of things. It's awesome.

Ant-Man = Ant-Man vs. Falcon: Last year when I first saw this movie, I already knew Sam was going to be in this and so having him and Scott fight at the Avengers' facility was great to see. And it most definitely did not disappoint. It was also nice to see a tie-in with the larger M.C.U movies.

Captain America: Civil War = The heroes facing each other at the airport: This is probably one of the most awesome scenes in any comic book movie. It's right as the heroes are at the airport and they're about to go at each other again and we see them all in two lines. One is team Cap and the other is team Iron Man. And it's awesome. It's the first time we saw Spider-Man in the M.C.U. During the fight Ant-Man goes giant. It's awesome and it's really great with just these two lines of heroes facing each other.

And those are my favourite moments from all the Marvel Cinematic Universe movies. Please tell me what yours are and thanks for reading.

The future for the Disney live action remakes

So far Disney has been making a lot of remakes of their Disney Classics. So far they've made Alice in Wonderland, Maleficent, Cinderella and the live action Jungle Book movie that came out this year. So I'm going to be talking about all those as well as the ones they will be making in the future. So let's begin. With Alice in Wonderland, I only first saw it either last year or this year. I can't remember but either way I saw it. And while there were a couple of good things in it, it really wasn't that good of a film. There were a lot of stupid things in it, a lot of the choices didn't make a lot of sense and they never made the characters in Wonderland crazy which is what they're supposed to be. Now let's move onto my least favourite movie of all time, Maleficent. I honestly don't know what to say here that I haven't said before. I absolutely hate this movie and it's still my least favourite movie ever. I have no idea what they were thinking when they were making this by making Maleficent the good guy. That is by far the dumbest thing in this. To be honest, I really don't want to talk about this anymore. Just know that I absolutely despise this movie. Now onto Cinderella. As far as I know, this did get good reviews from critics but I do also know that this had some mixed thoughts from YouTube critics. I haven't seen this yet but I do know that. The reason I haven't seen this yet is because I'm not all that interested. But now let's go onto the most recent and probably the best one, the Jungle Book. I only saw this a few weeks ago. This is probably the only one that everyone absolutely loved. And what did I think of it? I thought it was good, but I didn't exactly love it. Don't get me wrong. I had a fun time with it and I'd be happy to see it again but I just didn't love it. O.K. Let's go over positives. Firstly, the visuals are absolutely amazing. Everything you see in this movie is C.G.I. The only real thing you're seeing is Neel Sethi as Mowgli, who did a fantastic job. Especially seeing how this is first movie and he's acting again nothing but a puppet on a blue screen. The rest of the cast is also great. Bill Murray as Baloo, Ben Kingsley as Bagheera, Idris Elba as Shere Khan, Lupita Nyong'o as the mother wolf, Scarlett Johansson as Kaa, which is kinda weird, Christopher Walken as King Louie. They all do a great job. And they're voice acting these characters. And Jon Favreau is a fantastic director and he did a great job with this. There are some flaws in this I can think of. But overall I think this is a really good movie. I didn't love it but it is still really good. Now to talk about the ones that will be coming out in the future. So the Jungle Book is actually what's starting all of these and so the first one is the Beauty and the Beast movie that'll be coming out next year. It'll have Emma Watson in it as Belle. And I guess it'll be fine. I don't entirely know what to think of it but I'm not saying it'll be a bomb, I just don't know what to think of it. The other movies that's be getting remakes are Aladdin, the Sword in the Stone, Mulan, Pinocchio, Winnie the Pooh and Dumbo. I actually do faith in some of these like Aladdin, Pinocchio and maybe Mulan. The rest I think don't make a whole lot of sense like the Winnie the Pooh one and the Dumbo one. But anyway, I guess I'll be hoping for these to be good and get good reviews. And that's the future for the live action Disney remakes. Thank you all for reading and please comment to tell me what you think of this.

Kingdom Hearts 2.8 Final Chapter Prologue trailer

So a couple of days ago at the TGS convention, they showed us a new trailer for Kingdom Hearts 2.8. I was super excited for this because is my 2nd most anticipated video game of all time and fortunately, they made a fantastic trailer. It shows a lot of awesome stuff as well as amazing animation and amazing music. This is my favourite version of Simple and Clean we've heard yet. Which is really saying something because I've loved the ones from the others too. But this one really gets me pumped up when ever I hear it. And they gave us a release date for it. It'll be out on the 24/1/17. Yeah, it got delayed and that will effect Kingdom Hearts 3 but I don't entirely mind. And so, here's the trailer.
And they showed us what the case is going to be like. Here it is and I'm super excited.

The Lion Guard: Return of the Roar

As I said in my previous entry, this is going to be my 400th entry and I'm really grateful to all of you for reading this much so far and I really hope you all enjoy this. And in here I'm going to do a review for the TV movie, The Lion Guard: Return of the Roar. This was actually created before the show. This was made and that's why the show was made and how the origin of this whole Lion Guard thing started. I've already said I love the Lion Guard and I also really love this first movie. And I'll be talking about the full story in case your wondering. Although the thing itself isn't very long. It's only 42 minutes long. But I still like to watch it. In fact, it's on DVD and I have it and I like to watch it. Anyway, let's get started. What's the story? It opens up with the same opening as the first Lion King movie. With the first shot being the sun over the horizon and it shows Simba telling Kiara the same thing Mufasa told him at the beginning of the first movie, which is kinda cool. But then they're interrupted by Kion and Bunga who are playing with a fruit as a ball. They go somewhere else but it drops into the Outlands. Bunga goes to get it but then 2 Hyenas named Chungu and Chezze who work for Janja and they're about to bring Bunga back to Janja to eat him but then Kion uses something called the Roar of the Elders and Bunga escapes. In turns out Simba, Nala and Rafiki heard it too and Kion and Bunga get back. And we even get a funny scene where Simba says that he needs to talk to Kion and Kion thinks he talking about something else. And what that other thing he thinking about is he thinks he's talking about Can You Feel the Love Tonight. That was a song from the first movie. I always find that hilarious. And then Kion says "I know all about that mushy stuff." It's so funny to me. Rafiki explains what the roar is and that when he uses it, the great lions of the Pride Lands past roar with him. They then show him and Bunga a cave in the side of Pride Rock and Simba explains that it's the Lion Guard lair and the backstory of the last Lion Guard. Apparently Scar was once the leader of the Guard but after 1 day when he used the roar against the other members and killed them after they refused to help him take down Mufasa so he could be king. Simba then instructs Kion to find the new 4 members of the Lion Guard by finding who he thinks is the fastest, strongest, bravest and keenest of sight. But he forgets to mention that they have to be lions so Kion runs off to find them. Bunga goes too and Kion recruits him as the bravest for the Guard. The 2 of them then meet up with Kiara and her friends along with Timon and Pumbaa. They go off but it turns out Mzingo has been listening. Mzingo is a vulture who also works for Janja. He tells Janja and the other hyenas about this and they decide to attack the Pride Lands before the Guard is ready. They head out. Kion and Bunga then recruit the others like Ono, Beshte and Fuli. He tries to use the roar again but it doesn't work this time. Simba and Kiara find Kion again and Kiara leaves so Simba can talk to Kion alone. He tells him that the Lion Guard has always been made of lions and he wants him to pick actual lions. Kion walks off sad and as Kiara and her friend, Tifu, are tracking some Gazelles, they spot Janja and the other Hyenas about to attack. Kion is walking through a field wondering why Simba didn't approve his friends for the Guard but then Mufasa talks to him like he did with Simba in the first movie. And with that, Kion goes to talk to them. But then Bunga tells him about the Hyenas. Kion properly recruits the Guard with the friends he picked and they go after the Hyenas. Simba, Nala, Rafiki, Kiara and her friends show up and see as Kion and the rest beat them and Kion uses the roar against them. And the ending is Simba actually accepting Kion's new Guard. And yeah, that's it, again, if you're wondering why it isn't very long, it's because this movie isn't very long. As I said, it's only 42 minutes long. Firstly, I really like the story in this. It shows a really interesting new side of the Lion King story that was never really explored before. It also has really great characters in my opinion. Kion is my favourite. Both in this movie and the show. And the casting is practically perfect. In case you didn't see it in my top 10 Lion Guard episode, I said that the main 5 Guard character castings is amazing. I said Max Charles as Kion is my favourite and I still stand by that and Kion is my favourite character. This movie also has absolutely amazing animation. Maybe some of the best hand-drawn animation I've ever seen. It also does a really good job at showing how a fun kid like Kion would do this kind of thing. It's also a lot of fun to see the returning characters back again after a long time. I also prefer this version of Kiara better than in the 2nd movie, as I said in my 22 Disney sequels ranked list. It also has a lot of funny moments as well. Timon and Pumbaa are of course great but the new comic relief they bring in like Bunga and couple others are great too. And as I said before, I love the songs here too. Listen.
My favourite song in the movie is Kion's Lament. Now, as far as negatives I have, there's only a few things. A lot of the writing's good but a couple of times the plot can get kinda predictable. But it is for kids so that's understandable. There also isn't a ton of action in this. It's really at the end in the field with the Guard vs. the Hyenas. But I do understand again because they don't want to make it too violent. And my last and biggest problem with the movie is that I feel like Simba is way too harsh on Kion for not picking lions for the Guard. He really lays it on him and I know he's worried about him and all that but for me, it feels a little too harsh. But honestly, those aren't huge problems. Overall, I love this movie and I love that it started off the show which, again, I love. And I would recommend it. And so everyone, that's my review of The Lion Guard: Return of the Roar and hopefully this won't be the last time I talk about the Lion Guard because I love to talk about it and I can't wait for the new TV DVD that'll coming out on the 3rd of October. Thank you all for reading and I just want to say thank you all for reading this far because, as I said, this is my 400th entry and I am so grateful to everyone for reading and I can't wait to write even more stuff in the future. Please comment down below and thank you all again.
