Shazam!

And so, everyone, we've now come to the first DC movie of 2018, Shazam. I wasn't that excited for this movie to be honest, even with the trailers coming out. I was hoping this would be a fun movie, but I didn't expect it to super mind-blowing or anything. And yeah, I'm not gonna lie, even at the end, while I was holding out some hopes, I personally wasn't the biggest fan of it, to put it gently. I was entertained and I do think it's fairly all right, but I did have problems with it. And, like I always say, I'll go no spoilers first and then all the spoilers later. So, let's go over the story quickly. What's the story? It opens up with a boy named Billy Batson, played by Asher Angel, looking for ways to locate his mom who he's been separated from since he was a child. After doing another illegal attempt to do it and getting caught, he moves to another foster home after coming from constant ones before. At this new one, he even makes friends with every other kid there, especially one guy there named Freddie, played by Jack Dylan Grazer. Some day later, he helps Freddie from some bullies at school and as he's running from them, he gets on a train and appears in some fortress with a wizard who says he gonna transfer his powers to Billy and now he can transform into an adult superhero whenever he says "Shazam", played by Zachary Levi. Meanwhile, a man named Dr. Sivana, played by Mark Strong, has gained the power of creatures called the Seven Deadly Sins and is after Billy because he wants that power for himself. So, firstly, I want to go over the positives, and then I'll get into the positives. Easily, the best part of the movie is Zachary Levi as Shazam. He's perfect as this character. He's funny, likeable and any emotion he has to convey, especially since it's a child's emotions, he does it really well. Asher Angel is really great as Billy Batson and Jack Dylan Grazer was fantastic as Freddie. He's really funny and even has some emotional scenes that work really well. Mark Strong was pretty good as Dr. Sivana. He's nothing amazing in regards to comic book movie villains, but it was pretty fun in a kinda over the top way and that kinda fit here. That kinda goes for this entire movie as a whole. It sorta felt like a movie that knew it was based on a comic book movie and so it just does some stuff that makes it feel like it's making fun of the superhero genre in a way. If you go see the movie, you'll know what I mean. A lot of the other side character I thought were likeable, especially the foster family. Not just the parents, who were really great, but I thought the kids were good too. Nothing great, but nothing terrible. I also thought some scenes were pretty emotional. Nothing made me cry, but some actually kinda hit me, especially in regards to the final 40 minutes of the movie. In terms of action, yeah, it's solid, but it's not like there's anything here that stands out as amazing. Same for the effects. While some are bad, most is great. Honestly, it's kinda hard to pin down exactly what I liked here because, while I had a good time with nearly all of it, some parts here were kinda poorly done in regards to filmmaking and storytelling. I know that's kinda obvious when talking about negatives for a movie, but still. And now, I'm going into the negatives, 'cause when going into DC movies these days, it's kinda hard not to. First off, there are some horrible performances here. Most are great, especially the main actors and I'm surprised by how well a lot of the kids pulled this off, but in terms of other performances, like some adult actors, some are really bad. Something else is that this has a really terrible opening. Not only with the bad performances that I just mentioned, but also really bad dialogue and that whole scene was really cringeworthy. Like I said, some effects are pretty bad, especially during the first scene where Shazam and Sivana first fight. And, there were just some scenes I thought were a little boring. Not just that, but in regards to some scenes like that, I thought they slowed the pacing down and ended up making the film a bit too long. And a lot more of the issue are about Dr. Sivana. I don't know what it is with DC villains these days, but a lot of them are coming as super boring and too over the top. Not just that, but his entire story was not something that I was invested in because his motive was so lame. Overall though, I thought Shazam was fine. It's definetly not one of the better comic book movies in recent years and there were some things that I thought dragged the experience down a bit, but I can't say I didn't enjoy most of it. It's honestly just a fine movie to me. I'd say check it out if you're interested. And so, everyone that's my review of Shazam. So there's not that much to spoil about this movie, so I'll just rapid fire through all of these. First off, that scene with Dr. Sivana that I thought was lame was the fact that he was so fixated on this power that the wizard denied him and I thought it was lame that he spent that whole time wanting so bad. The fact that he was trying to get it so bad for so long was just kinda lame and at point, even a bit hilarious because of some scenes. I thought the scene where Billy found his mom was kinda sad although, I don't know what other people thought of it, but I thought it made the mom come off as a bit unlikable. She does explain what happened, but still. And then with that finale with the foster kids becoming versions of Shazam themselves, I actually did see that coming because before seeing this, I saw a video of Shazam's origin and it spoke about that. So it wasn't that big of a surprise. Still though, it was pretty cool and it did make for a really fun climax, even if I felt it went on for a bit too long. And then at the end when Shazam shows up to the school and helps Freddie, that was really nice and then we actually see Superman, which was honestly really awesome. I know we don't see his face because I don't think Henry Cavil is doing the DC movies anymore unfortunately, but it was still cool and not seeing his face I think was actually a bit better. And then with the end credit scenes, the first one with Dr. Sivana in jail with that writing on the wall that he was doing was fine. And then something comes into his jail and talks to him about business. I don't know who that was. When I looked it up, it said it was a character named Mister Mind, A.K.A, this slug character who's probably gonna get him his powers back. And then the final one with Shazam and Freddie making fun of Aquaman, yeah, that was pretty funny and I'm glad they didn't try to make a set up for this movie like BVS. Star Wars Episode IX: The Rise Of Skywalker teaser

So, just a little while ago, we got the first teaser trailer for the last of the new Star Wars trilogy, Episode IX: The Rise Of Skywalker. Wow, it feels so good to finally have a title. And this teaser shows so much, but also, so little at the same time. First off, it obviously shows us some random stuff that we clearly won't know about until it comes out at the start with Rey outrunning a ship and then a bunch of action really fast. And we even see Leia, strangely. I'm curious to know how, but we also get to see Lando back too. But then the biggest surprise is at the end because we somehow hear Darth Sidious's laughing. So, this could indicate that he's somehow still alive. So, I'm curious to see how they answer these questions. Anyway, here it is and I hope you all like this.

My top 4 anime fights I want to see in the future

Given how so many existing anime have been building up so many fights that'll inevitably happen, especially at the end. And with a lot of them already known and foreshadowed, I thought I'd count down the ones I'm looking forward to the most. And I'm going with 4 because that's really all I could think of. I'm sure there's a ton of anticipated fights for other anime like in My Hero Academia, One Punch Man and so on, but I still need to get into those shows, which I'm hoping to, but these are the ones I'm personally looking forward to in the ones I have seen. And so, here  we go and I hope you all like this.
4. Goku vs. Frieza (Dragon Ball):

Starting us off at number 4 is the possible rematch between Goku and his archenemy, Frieza. After the Tournament Of Power, Frieza then hoped to kill Goku and Vegeta by releasing Broly in the newest Dragon Ball movie, but that failed, so it's possible that Goku could end up fighting him again, even if I do wish Frieza could be a good guy. I really do want that to happen, but, if it doesn't, then we can get one last fight between the two of them with them acquiring new transformations.
3. Everyone vs. Zeref and Acnologia (Fairy Tail):

At number 3 is the final climatic fight to decide the fate of the world of Fairy Tail, every character in the series against Zeref and Acnologia. I've read what happens in the manga, so I know exactly what's gonna happen, but I'm really excited to see it happen in the anime and see the different moves and all that in animation. Seeing how huge it all looked in the manga, I can only imagine how that's gonna translate into anime form. It's all gonna look crazy and I can't wait to see what they do with it. And the ending afterwards with everyone at the party and then the ending with Natsu and Lucy, assuming you know what happens, should be really fun too.
2. Boruto vs. Kawaki (Boruto: Naruto Next Generations):
Coming in close to number 1 is the fight that could end the entire Naruto franchise, Boruto vs. Kawaki. At the very beginning of Boruto: Naruto Next Generations, we were given a glimpse of this climatic fight. We were shown the Leaf village in complete and utter ruins and an adult Boruto fighting against this guy who we have no idea who he is. All we know is that apparently he's the one who's destroyed the village and has killed Naruto. And now Boruto is wearing Sasuke's cloak and headband and is using his sword to fight him. And apparently, they both have curse marks.
And the number 1 anime fight I'm hoping to see in the future is... Luffy vs. Blackbeard (One Piece):

And finally at number 1 is the captain of the Straw Hat pirates against the ultimate villain of One Piece, who's essentially Luffy if he was evil. After going through so much in his journey to find the One Piece, Luffy's final challenge and the final battle of this series could inevitable be against this monster. After witnessing Whitebeard dying, Blackbeard was somehow able to do what no other person has done, acquire two Devil Fruits and still be alive. As for how Blackbeard was able to do this, we'll just have to wait and see. Same for this fight. As Luffy draws closer and closer to the One Piece itself, the closer he gets to having his epic showdown with this huge beast. Given how the two of them are now Yonkos, A.K.A, Emperors Of The Sea, it's only a matter of time before we finally get the showdown between these two. And so, everyone, those are my picks for my top 4 most anticipated anime fights. Avengers: Endgame Special Look

So, Endgame is out in just 22 days from now and today we got a huge new look at the content of it. And this was absolutely amazing. This entire video gave me goose bumps with so many things happening. We see the Avengers together, Tony and Steve reconciling and Thanos returning and wearing his armour, which is something I wanted him to keep on in Infinity War, and now it looks like they're gonna have him keep it on, which is awesome. Speaking of awesome, it looks like the heroes are gonna be wearing costumes reminiscent of their original suits from the comics, but still making them look modernised. There' just so much in this and I can't wait for the next 22 days to go by. And so, here it is and I hope you all like this.

My 5 hopes for the Kingdom Hearts 3 DLC

So, just yesterday, I made this list on my YouTube channel talking about the 5 different things I want to see in the Kingdom Hearts 3 DLC that'll be coming out at some point. So, I decided to shared it on here. I know I usually make an actual entry about these things, but I'm just really trying to get my YouTube channel noticed more and more out there. And these picks aren't in any order, they're just my list of the different things I want to see in the DLC. And, so, here it is and I hope you all like this.

Captain Marvel

And, so, everyone, we've arrived at the first M.C.U movie of 2019 and the last one before Endgame, Captain Marvel. Marvel itself has had an amazing track record with their movies in the M.C.U ever since it first started and I was excited like always to see how they could implement another character I've never really seen much in comics or cartoons and see how they could modernise the character, which is something the M.C.U can do really well. Taking characters and modernising them to fit this day and age and making them super enjoyable. And so, what'd I end up thinking about it in the end? Honestly, in terms of M.C.U standards, I would say this is leaning towards the bottom of the films. I wouldn't say it's bad, but it does have a lot of bad stuff in it and there are a fair amount of problems. But, let's talk about the story first. And, like always, this will have no spoilers to start off, and then I'll talk about all the spoilers after a warning. Okay, so, what's he story? It starts off with a flashback of a woman named Carol Danvers, played by Brie Larson, apparently near a plane crash. We then cut to years later where she's older and on another with the race of Krees. She's also friends with a guy named Yon Rogg, played by Jude Law, and during a mission against creatures named Skrulls, Carol is separated from her team and lands on Earth where she begins to have memories of a past that she thinks she's remembering. She also runs into Nick Fury and Coulson who're trying to find out what's going on while Carol is trying to find some invading Skrulls and trying to get through to her team. And, I'm gonna stop there. Okay, so first I'll start with the positives. In terms of the cast, they're mostly solid. I really enjoyed Brie Larson as Carol. I wouldn't say it's in the top 10 best M.C.U castings or anything and there are some aspects to her that I'm going to talk about in the negatives, but I mostly really enjoyed her. And the rest are good and I enjoyed them, even if some of the characters weren't at all memorable. Jude Law, who I'm really beginning to notice recently thanks to this and The Crimes Of Grindlewald, I think he does a great job, but, like I said, I don't remember much about his character aside from what happens to him at the end, which I'll talk about in a few minutes, but I thought the performance was good. By far though, the best part about this movie is Samuel L. Jackson as Nick Fury. I really love Fury and this might be my favourite version of him aside from his character in The Winter Soldier. And the de-aging on him is beyond flawless Not just him, but Coulson is back too and the de-aging on him is also pretty flawless. I already loved Coulson from the movies before he died and seeing him again was great. The interactions between Nick and Carol was by far my favourite part of the whole movie. Super enjoyable and funny too. I really liked Lashana Lynch as Maria, as in an old friend of Carol's on Earth, though I wish we got more interactions between the two of them because I didn't think they had enough to feel much with them. And as for the Skrulls here, they really surprised me. With the main Skrull, Talos, I thought he was funny and a little intimidating at points. And I like the concept for the Skrulls with being able to shapeshift into whoever they want. And what they did with the Skrulls towards the end really surprised me, but I'll get into more detail with that in the spoilers. As for the rest, I don't remember much. I thought a lot of them were kinda unmemorable, though it was cool to see Ronan and Korath back in this, even if they were there for only a few second. As for the visuals, they're pretty good mostly. Not all, but the majority look great. Though, I gotta say, the actual look to the Skrulls look kinda weird to me. The makeup on them looked like something from a TV show. It did look a little better in the movie than I thought it did in the trailers, but still. Some ideas in the movie I thought were pretty interesting and there were a few action scenes that were pretty creative. Same with the jokes. There were some that were really hilarious like every other M.C.U movie, but some did kinda fall flat. Overall, the best I can say is that the movie is definetly entertaining for almost all of it. However, there are also quite a lot of problems. And I guess I'll get into those now. Firstly, and probably the biggest problem I had with the movie is the opening. It just came and went really fast with some really weird editing and some really weirdly delivered exposition. Pretty much as soon as Carol arrives on Earth, the movie begins to pick up, but there's not much to it before that. Thankfully we don't spend much time on the Kree planet, but still. Also, in terms of the problems I had with Carol herself, we really don't get much of a personality with her. At points she feels like a character with no personality and is just kinda there, which is something the M.C.U really shouldn't have because they've always been amazing at creating personalised character, especially the protagonists. I also wasn't a fan of some of the action. Aside from the opening scene in a spaceship, I really don't remember that much in terms of action except for one scene inside a train. The C.G.I also isn't all that great here. Especially towards the end when it's really C.G.I heavy. The C.G.I just looks kinda weird there. And, like I said, there's the relationship between Carol and Maria, which I did really like and I liked them together, but I wish there was more there for me to feel for them. I did feel for it a bit, but not as much as I would have liked. There's also something that happens towards the end that does feel like it comes out of nowhere, even if the thing itself is something I liked. I liked it, but it did feel like it comes outta nowhere. And, really, while a lot of the movie is entertaining, the pacing of the whole movie isn't great and a lot of that has to do with the opening, like I said, and, for me at least, that does damage a lot of the film itself. So, before I get into spoilers, I'll just wrap this up. Captain is another good M.C.U movie and one I was really happy that I saw. Overall, I would definetly recommend seeing the movie, just don't expect this to be one of the best M.C.U movies out there. And so, everyone, that's my review of Captain Marvel. And with the spoilers, this could be longer than when I normally do spoilers because there's a lot to talk about. So, first off, I wanna talk about that Goose scene. Goose was the name of the cat thing that follows Carol and Fury around for most of the movie. When it's revealed to not really be a cat and some alien called a flerken with tentacles in its mouth, yeah, that was pretty funny, especially during the scene when Fury was trying to use it as a weapon. And then the scene when it scratched out his eye was really weird. I imagine this is something that a lot of people are gonna be angry about considering it's showing that Fury simply lost his eye from a cat scratch. I always assumed he lost it from a mission during a shootout, but no. I did like that scene though, despite the editing on it looking kinda weird. And as for that subplot that I said I liked that kinda came outta nowhere was the Skrulls not actually being the villains of the movie, but the Kree actually are. And the Skrulls themselves are actually kinda peaceful and are trying to get home. I thought that was nice. I liked Talos a lot more after that. And then at the end, Carol decides to leave and help them, yeah, my thoughts on that are the same, just a really nice scene, though a little weird to me in the sense of Fury, Maria and her daughter becoming friends with them. And then, we actually see that the Skrulls had the Tesseract. Which is really confusing considering S.H.I.E.L.D had it after Howard found it in Captain America: The First Avenger. So I'm curious to know how they got it. I also liked how Fury got the idea to name the team the Avengers, from Carol's plane. That was a nice touch. And, finally, the end credit scenes. The first one was seeing the Avengers at Avengers H.Q looking at a map of the world and seeing all the people who died in the snap and then we see that they found Fury's pager and then Carol shows up. I almost kinda lost my mind when that happened because I was really excited to see what's gonna happen next. I mean, Endgame is out in just a few weeks from now and so having that scene here shows what's gonna happen at the start a little bit. I honestly though Carol was gonna meet up with Tony and Nebula in space first and then she'd come to the Earth. But I'm still curious to know what's gonna happen now. And then, the after credit scene has Goose puking up the Tesseract, which was still weird to me. Stuff like that isn't really something we needed to know necessarily, we coulda just guessed that that was gonna happen. And, so, everyone, those are the spoilers for Captain Marvel. Toy Story 4 Trailer

So, everyone, today we got an official full-length trailer for Toy Story 4. Like I said for the last trailer, I personally think I'm still 100% on board for a fourth Toy Story movie, and I have a few worries when it comes to this film. The content to the trailer itself reminds me a lot of Toy Story 2, in the sense of Woody goes to save a toy who's been separated from the group and now the others have to save them, with some other similarities in there too. But, to be fair, the Toy Story magic has already worked once this year with there being a Toy Story world in Kingdom Hearts 3, so I'm sure they'll be able to make this work too, but I'm still a little curious. Still though, in terms of the look to the movie, it looks beautiful. Pixar has practically perfected C.G animation at this point and there's quite a lot of interesting ideas they're presenting here. And so, here it is and I hope you all like this.

Avengers: Endgame trailer

And so, everyone, we finally got an official trailer for Avengers: Endgame. This was actually closer to being released than I thought. But, from this trailer itself, I love it. It's showing us so much but also so little in terms of the content of the movie, which is something I want to see happen with the marketing for the movie. We get to see the Avengers reunited along with some awesome action shots and it all looks pretty insane, which is what's to be expected with the Avengers movies at this point. But, again, I'm loving all of it. We even get to see Captain Marvel with the Avengers. Also, I have seen that movie and the review for that will be my next entry. But as for this, I can't wait to see what they have in store for us. And so, here it is and I hope you all like this.

How To Train Your Dragon: The Hidden World

And, so, everyone, we've finally arrived at the final instalment to the humongous popular Dragons franchise, the Hidden World. I was obviously super excited for this. I love the Dragons franchise as a whole. I've watched the two previous movies and I've seen all the TV shows like Riders Of Berk, Defenders Of Berk and Race To The Edge, which I've reviewed on this blog. So expectations were pretty high for this final instalment in this franchise. So, what did I end up thinking of it? Honestly, in terms of where I would rank it with the other two movies, I personally think I'd put it in the middle. A lot of people are calling this the least of the three movies, but, personally, I think I found it to be better than the first, but not as good as the second. Which is kinda hard to beat considering how high a bar that is. Still though, I'm really happy to say that this was such a great time... for the most part, mainly because I do have problems with the movie. But I still had a great time with it. And, yes, this'll be spoiler-free for the first part and then I'll get into all the spoilers. So, what's the story? It actually begins a few months after the second movie and now Hiccup and the others are still freeing dragons from dragon trappers. And everything seems to be going pretty well until a villain named Grimmel is planning to kill them all. All while Toothless has actually met a female Night Fury who he begins to have a crush on, but she keeps vanishing. And now, because of the danger of Grimmel, Berk has been evacuated. All the while Toothless is still constantly thinking of the Light Fury and Hiccup is trying to help him. And I'm gonna stop right there. So I'm just gonna get into the positives first. Obviously, when it comes to DreamWorks movies, whether they're good or bad, something that always remains a staple is that they always have fantastic animation, and this is no exception. The other two movies were easily the best looking DreamWorks movies they had made and this takes that to even higher levels. And whenever any of the dragons move around or have their own way of moving in a way, they actually look like they have they're own way of doing it and it doesn't feel recycled from any of the others. It feels like everything was created from the ground up perfectly. And every detail you can imagine is perfectly shown. And the characters are just the same, which I'm so happy about. Hiccup feels more like he's evolving as a character again, and not just the fact that he's now the chief, but he's also stepping more into an adult stage, but at the same time, he's still the same as before and he's still really funny. He also feels like he can fully be awesome here. When it looks like he's mad and serious, it's not like the first movie where he's a weak guy trying to act tough, he really does feel like a person who can deliver on what he says. And the rest are great too. Him and Astrid still work great together and there's still a lot of great banter between all of them. And what they did with Snotlout was really funny again. And I obviously like all the other side characters too like Gobber, Valka and Erit. I still really like them. The movie's also got a fair amount of surprises. I was pretty shocked by some scenes in this and I was really pleased with how a lot of it progressed. I still really enjoy watching these characters together and interacting and watching the story progress with them. I was especially really happy and hyped up whenever we went into an action scene with them because so much of it was really exciting and really fun. But, even with that, I would say my favourite scenes in the movie were any with Toothless because he's in love with this Light Fury and he's always trying his best to impress her and win her over. And any scene with that was always enjoyable. In particular a scene on a beach where Toothless is trying to impress her and Hiccup trying to help him by doing hand gestures. There's not a single word being said, but Hiccup is trying to help him and Toothless is really trying to do his best to woo this Light Fury. That was really funny and really cute too. All the stuff with the main characters were easily the best parts, like always. They're all still really likeable and entertaining. Honestly, the only problem with the film I have is the villain. Grimmel was a very boring villain who I don't even remember all that much of. Any time it cut to him, I was always sorta waiting for the movie to go back to Hiccup. I remember Drago from the second Dragons movie being a much better villain than Grimmel. Also, his eventual defeat was pretty disappointing in my opinion. Besides that though, I am so happy to say that this is a franchise that has not had a single bad entry in it. Not just from the movies, but also the TV shows and even the little shorts they've made too like Gift Of The Night Fury and all those. I was so please with how the Dragon series ended and, yeah, the ending to this is incredible. I could not believe what happens during the ending. So, yeah, if you like these films, I would highly recommend seeing this, but I would still say go see it because it's a really great movie. Okay, there's not a lot of spoilers to talk about, so this will probably be really quick. I really the part where Hiccup was making a new tail for Toothless so he could go looking for the Light Fury himself And the actual Hidden World where all the dragons were look gorgeous. Not just the designs, but also the colours and the different ways they shot just made it feel that much more alive. I did also really love the end climax. That was really cool and there were some stakes there where it looked like either Toothless or the Light Fury could have been killed. And there were other action scenes I liked like the scene in Grimmel's base where he was setting traps for them or when he burned down Hiccup's house. And then the ending, when Grimmel died and where I said it was anticlimactic is when he just falls into the water and that's it. It felt really quick and we don't even see him afterwards. That's not too big an issue, but still. I also kinda liked the fact that they had to leave Berk because of Grimmel, but I also found it weird that they did considering they've faced threats before and didn't leave it then, but I do also understand given how many he had under his command. And really, the only other big spoiler is the really great ending to the movie, which I still really love. After Grimmel is beaten, Hiccup decides to let all the dragons go and they head off towards the Hidden World, which was really sad, but then it's followed by Hiccup and Astrid finally getting married and then we cut to years later with the two of them with kids and they meet up with Toothless and the Light Fury again who have baby dragons themselves. Which I loved. I really love endings like that and this is just another one of those awesome endings. And I think that's pretty much everything. Frozen 2 Teaser Trailer

So, everyone, the other day, we actually got the teaser trailer for Frozen 2. I guess since Ralph Breaks The Internet, Disney's decided to make actual sequels for their Disney Classics, which is extremely rare. They didn't do that often and for a long time. But I guess they're deciding to want to attempt the it. And now they're doing a sequel to the smash-hit from 2013, Frozen. I love the first movie and this looks really interesting. It doesn't really give away anything in terms of the plot, but the rest of the trailer looks great. The characters still look great like in the first movie and it almost kinda looks like they're looking for Autumn here, which is curious and I may be wrong, but that's what it looks like.
