Naruto The Movie: Legend of the Stone of Gelel
This was the other Naruto movie, this is the only other one from the first season that I watched. I first watched this and the last one a few years ago when my brother got me them on DVD for me. And now I'm going to review it. What's the story? It starts off with Naruto, Sakura and Shikamaru on some mission to return a mission pet to it's owner but at some point they get attack by people in huge armours and a man in white armour and a sword. During the fight, Naruto and the man fall down a crevasse and get separated from Sakura and Shikamaru. That night, they wake up and discover that they were found by an ancient family who are actually the owners of the pet they were escorting. It turns out the man in armour's name is Temujin and during another night he runs off and Naruto follows him. He's actually going to a temple where Temujin's master lives named master Haido. He says he's looking for something called the Stone of Gelel, which he says will help create a utopia, a world without any war or bloodshed. Temujin has a tiny fragment of it inside him which helps him do special moves with his sword. Temujin and Naruto then leave and go to wrecked ship where they find bodies around and apparently Temujin knows them. Just then Kankuro and Gaara from the Sand Village and who are also Naruto's friends, arrive and Kankuro tells Naruto that Temujin and his people attack the land of Wind and wiped out a ton of people. And from here we get the same as the last one. Action, comedy, backstory, a climax, a monster transformation and drama. Yeah, when they do drama in this kind of stuff, it's really heavy and they really don't hold back with making it hard core. I mean, yeah, Naruto and other Animes have been known for having hard-core drama but this does it really high if you know what I mean. Another thing is that the ending does have a kind of interesting outcome. Without spoiling that much, it's where some power is unleashed and Temujin uses a move to get rid of it which causes everything to go out of control and well... then it stops and then it's revealed they're all safe in a way. I think that that's both really cool and weird at the same time. And, as usual the action is incredible. The best one being between Naruto and Temujin vs. Haido. Yeah, Haido is the villain. I don't really think I'm giving anything away by saying that because I'm pretty sure anyone can see it coming. He says he wants to do good in the world be in actuality he just wants to use the stone to destroy the world. Of course. Anyway, the other action scenes are also cool like the one on the ship and another one with Sakura and Shikamaru vs. Haido's servants in the temple like place. One other thing to mention is the acting. Sure the acting is always good in this kind of stuff, but I feel like here the actors did something a little different than usual. I can't explain what it is but I just feel like it is. And, also, after the last fight, there's a great scene for a few seconds a vision of Naruto and Sasuke in a field walking away from each other. So yeah, I don't think this is better than the last movie but it is still a great film. Are there details that don't make sense? Sure, but it's the same as the first one. You overlook it because the rest is just so good. I hope the people who have watched it like it like me. I'd say watch it if you're interested.
