The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies

And now we come to the very last Middle-Earth movie. The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies. This actually the lowest rated Middle Earth movie on Rotten Tomatoes. All the Lord of the Rings movies got 91%, 96% and 94%. The 1st Hobbit movie got 66%, the 2nd got 76% and this one 61%. And I kind see why? Why? I'll explain after the story. What's the story? Well like the last one it starts off where the last one ended, with Smaug heading towards Lake-Town to destroy it eventually he gets killed in the first few minutes. That's actually one of my problems with the film. Also Thorin is still going crazy still looking for the Arkenstone and having everyone look for it, but Bilbo has it because of something Smaug said to him in the last movie saying that if he gave it to Thorin it would drive him even more crazy. He believes him with the way he's been behaving recently. The man who helped them and killed Smaug goes to the mountain and ask for some of the money to help rebuild the town but Thorin refuses. The other Dwarves, like Bilbo all agree that Thorin's gone crazy. And the rest is a ginormous fight between Bilbo, Gandalf, the people of Lake-Town, the Dwarves and the Elves vs. thousands of Orcs. So let me go over my problems with the film. Well, like I said before, I do find it a bit of a problem that Smaug was killed at the very beginning because I think he could of made a good made a good main villain for the final fight like the last film. And I also think it's a problem that there's hardly anything fighting until the ending. The film is mostly about talking and planning and that's kind of a let down. And I also don't like how Thorin is all crazy considering in the other films he was likable. But he does redeem himself at the end. But now the good things I like about the film. Well the action scenes, as few as there are, are still impressive. And the characters are still likable. And the ending is still really good payoff. It ends with the opening scene of the Fellowship of the Ring with Gandalf visiting Bag-End for Bilbo's 111th birthday For what it is it not terrible, but it's also not the best. For it being Peter Jackson's last Middle-Earth movie, it is impressive. It's worth taking a watch.
