Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice

And now we've finally arrived at the most anticipated movie of the year for a lot people. Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice. With getting the biggest amount of money in just it's opening weekend ever and many mixed reviews. And I'm not gonna lie, when I first saw the score it got on Rotten Tomatoes, I was getting really scared because it got a 38% and then after a couple more days, it started to go down to 29%. And on top that, when I started to watch some of the reviews of it on YouTube, they were all saying that even though there was a lot of things that were good in the movie, there were a lot of problems and some pretty sloppy bits. And so, I went to see it yesterday with anticipation and a bit of worriment wondering if I would dislike it. But no. I liked it. I don't know if I'd say I loved it, I do know there are a lot of problems and some of negatives that the YouTubers said, I do agree with. But overall, I really enjoyed it. Even more than Man of Steel. One last thing, again, I'll be talking about the whole story so if you don't want it spoil, which I doubt considering you've all probably seen the movie by now. But if you haven't and you don't want it spoiled, go see the movie first, then read this. O.K. What's the story? It starts off with the funeral of Bruce Wayne's parents. During the funeral, he runs off in sadness and while running, we see the flashback of how it happened. He also falls into a hole and finds a ton of bats. Years later it cuts to the scene in Man of Steel with the fight between Superman and Zod from Bruce's point of view of him running through Metropolis trying to help people in the rubble of the destroyed buildings of the city. By the way, Bruce Wayne this time is played by Ben Affleck. 18 months later there's a lot of controversy around Superman because he caused a lot of destruction during that fight. While at the same time, Bruce is doing everything he can to find a way to bring Superman down for revenge because a lot of people he cared about and other innocent people died that day. He finds out that there's an island has found a huge rock of Kryptonite and Lex Luthor, played by Jesse Eisenberg, is having it brought to him. Lex is also trying to convince the government that Superman is evil but from what he's doing, the lead person he's trying to convince isn't believing what he's saying. Also, there's a friend of Bruce's named Wallace who was in the crossfire of Superman vs. Zod fight and a huge piece of wreckage fell on his legs and so he had to get them cut off and he's agreeing what Bruce is saying. That Superman is a bad guy so one day he climbs a statue of Superman and uses spray paint to write "False God" on it. He's then arrested and but Lex bails him out and gives him a technological wheelchair. On Clark Kent's side of story, not only is he getting a lot of hate from people as Superman but he also recently had to rescue Lois from a desert and while she was there, she found a book like object with a strange bullet in it so she's trying to find out what it's about. Clark is also hearing about the things that Bruce is doing in Gotham as Batman. He's tracking down leads as a way to find out where Superman is. But he's doing it in a violent way that Clark thinks it's evil so now he thinks that Batman should be stopped. So one day, there's a trial with Superman and everyone is there and most of them are saying he should either leave or die considering the fact that they think he's dangerous. But during the trial, the wheelchair that Lex gave Wallace explodes and destroys the entire building and Lex did it to frame Superman to make everyone think he did it. Bruce sees it and begins to train to get stronger. Alfred, played by Jeremy Irons, tries to convince Bruce not to fight Superman saying that he's not their enemy but Bruce does believe he's their enemy. Alfred is also making Bruce another Batsuit made of metal. One night, the Kryptonite is being delivered to Lex and Bruce is using the Batmobile to try and stop it and get the Kryptonite himself. He almost does but just as he's about to, Superman arrives and Bruce tries to run him over but he just bounces right off him and crashes. When Superman goes over to him he says to disappear because there shouldn't be a Batman but when he's about to leave, Batman gives him a warning. After that Bruce decides to go to Lexcorp and steal the Kryptonite. Conveniently, he's actually been invited to go there for a party and while there he meets Clark and they talk for a few minutes and while there, Bruce keeps running into a woman. He keeps trying to find out where it's hidden and also steal some other files. And when it's over he goes back to Gotham to look at the files. While he's waiting for it to load, he falls asleep and has a dream of him as Batman on the planet of Apokolips where the villain Darkseid lives and when he's there, he's fighting guys and some creatures. But he's kidnapped. When he wakes up, he looks at the files and it shows the information of other superheroes like Wonder Woman, Cyborg, Flash and Aquaman. When he looks at the Wonder Woman one, he realises that it's the woman he saw at the party. So he sends the files to her and she sees the others including quick videos showing them using themselves. Also, Bruce steals the Kryptonite. That night Lex puts his master plan into action. He's using Zod's body to make some big. Like, really big. So he has Lois kidnapped and Superman's earth mother named Martha. He throws Lois of the building and Superman saves her. He goes up to Lex and he says to him that unless he goes to Gotham and kills Batman, he'll kill his mother. Superman does go but is instead going to ask for help from Batman who he now knows is Bruce. He manages to find him but Batman doesn't want to listen to what he's saying and so we finally get the fight between the 2 of them that the movie is named after. And it is amazing. This is probably one of the best fights I've ever seen in a comic book movie. Not just because of the well done choreography but also because of the fact that each attack looks real. It also looks amazing. But as Batman is about to use a spear with Kryptonite on it on Superman, Superman asks him to save Martha and Batman gasps when he says her name because Martha was also the name of his mother. And Lois eventually comes and convinces Batman to stop. Admittedly, that's a really disappointing scene. I mean, the whole fight stops because Superman says his mother's name was also the same name of Batman's. But anyway, they eventually team up and while Superman is off to stop Lex, Batman is going off to save Martha. He does and then goes off to help Superman. When Superman arrives, Lex releases what he's been doing, DOOMSDAY. Yeah, he unleashes Doomsday. And the next 10 or 15 minutes is Batman, Superman and Wonder Woman, played by Gal Gadot, against Doomsday. Eventually Superman manages to beat Doomsday by impaling him with the spear but Doomsday also manages to kill him. There's then a funeral for him and the ending scene is Bruce and Diana, a.k.a Wonder Woman, disguising about getting the Justice League together. But also the last shot of the movie is Clark's grave moving. And I'm sure that that indicates the fact that in the comics, Superman and Doomsday both kill each other but Superman comes back to life. So yeah, sorry for making that so long and some things were told out of order, but that's what happens in the movie. There are things I love in this movie and things I didn't like. Let's start with what I disliked. First off, the story feels a little off. It's like Man of Steel where the visuals and cast is amazing but the story and the goal that it's trying to go for seems like it's broken. In the first half, it's mostly just some stuff with the controversy around Superman and Bruce's hatred towards Superman and it is interesting but it feels like it goes nowhere during the end. On top of that, it does feels like 2 different stories in 1. Like I just said the first half is the controversy and the second is the whole thing with Batman, Superman fighting and then the whole conflict between them and then the fight with Doomsday. It does really feel like it's out of place. Also the whole thing with Bruce sending the whole thing with the Justice League to Diana. It is so lazy how that happened. And I'm still wondering why Lex had that anyway. Also, Batman kills people in this movie. Batman is not supposed to kill people. That was one of the same problems I had with the original 2 Batman movies. I have no idea why he kills people. And it's not just in his dreams where, O.K, it's a dream so it's not real. In real life he's using guns on people and he even blows one guy up. I don't get that. And the whole thing at the end with them disguising about getting them together is so shoehorned in. That whole thing is sloppy in all regards. But now let's get the stuff I loved. Like I said, the cast is amazing. The best one in my opinion is Ben Affleck as Batman. Oh my god. This guy was phenomenal as Bruce Wayne/Batman. He was so interesting, I cared about him, I understood why he disliked Superman. Batman was amazing. The costume was also amazing. You all know I had some doubts with it originally with me thinking the ears looked a little small but no this costume is terrific. This is probably my favourite or second favourite Batman costume ever. Also, I'm not sure where to place Ben Affleck in my favourite Batman actors. I think he's tied with Christian Bale. Henry Cavill is still great as Superman. I'm still not sure if I'd say he's better than Christopher Reeves but he's still great. Also Gal Gadot is fantastic as Wonder Woman. I was really excited about seeing her and it didn't disappointing. She was awesome. Jeremy Irons was also fantastic as Alfred. This is probably my favourite version of Alfred ever. And the whole look to the film is also incredible. That's something all of Zack Snyder's films have in common. And, like I said, the fight is amazing. The fight between Batman and Superman is fantastic. If you see this movie and disappointed with the movie in general, you'll at least love this fight because it is awesome. And yeah, even the fight with the 3 superheroes against Doomsday is cool. I actually had a feeling that Superman was going to die because of the comics. And the whole movie, as sloppy as it can get, is entertaining and you do find yourself really invested in what's going on. As well as the fact that, somehow, I find myself almost wanting to go and see it again. I will definitely get it on DVD when it comes out. So yeah I definitely enjoyed this movie, actually even more than everyone else. Yeah, the film does have a ton of problems but so did Man of Steel and I liked that too. But I prefer this movie and I do think liked it a lot more than everyone else did. But that's not entirely saying much because not that many did like it. The ones who did like it thought it was O.K but not anything that great. But I do think it's good. Not perfect, but entertaining enough that it kept my interest. I would say go see it, but given how much money it's already got, I'm pretty sure you already have. But if you haven't I would say check it.
